Vegan and vegetarian catering rainbow

Why Greenspot also caters to vegan and vegetarian food lovers

If you’re a long-term vegan, a vegetarian, or even considering a switch to a more plant-based diet, the benefits are well documented. We’re here to support that choice at Greenspot, too. We know that eating more fruits and vegetables, no matter your diet preference, is ideal for superb health.

According to Harvard Health and a JAMA Internal Medicine study, eating vegetarian is associated with a lower average systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared with other diets. Though researchers haven’t pinpointed the exact reason, the assumption is that a vegetarian diet helps to control body weight, which is a risk factor for high blood pressure.

There are also the added benefits of eating a “rainbow” of fruits and vegetables, which usually means you’re getting more nutrients since the color of foods are indicative of their healthy compounds. Foods with little to no nutrient density don’t contain such vibrant colors because the colors themselves indicate a specific food compound that helps a plant ward off drought and pests, but also that helps to boost your own health.

Red and yellow foods: For example, red fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, strawberries and red beans, are backed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. Yellow fruits are loaded with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and potassium.

Orange foods: Orange foods like carrots, oranges, or sweet potato contain an antioxidant called beta-carotene that benefits your hair, skin, and nils, but that can also support healthy vision.

Green foods: Leafy green foods are packed with vitamins and minerals that reduce the risk of obesity, reduce incidence of heart disease, and can boost cognitive health, too. You’ll find plenty of these ingredients in some of Greenspot’s most popular dishes.

Purple foods: Purple foods like cabbage are full of vitamins and minerals like phenolics and antioxidants, along with fiber. Purple foods also contain a compound called anthocyanin which reduces inflammation, and gives a boost to your heart health.

Greenspots custom food for healthy summer eating

Greenspot’s custom food for healthy summer eating

Why eat healthy in the summer?  Greenspot caters to healthy living, and it’s more important than ever to stay healthy when temperatures rise in the summer months. You can also double-down on your healthy living goals because summer naturally promotes solid physical fitness and your innate desire to look and feel good. Hotter weather can sometimes decrease your appetite, so it’s vital to eat right. When the sun is shining, you’re getting more Vitamin D, but you can also take advantage of the plethora of fresh veggies and fruits available in warmer months to augment the Vitamin D you get from sun exposure. You’re also more likely to stay active when you wear fear clothes, so fresh fruits and vegetables act as a support for good hydration, too. Delicious Salads at Greenspot

Custom salads we make at Greenspot can help you get the nutrition you need to maintain optimum summer health.

These are things like proteins, healthy carbohydrates, and fats. Micro-nutrients are things your body needs in smaller amounts and that come from food items like the ones we’ve listed above.  Eating a variety of foods is the easiest way to make sure you get both the macronutrients and micronutrients you need.

Some foods provide numerous macro-nutrients. Like walnuts. They offer both healthy fats, and protein. Olive oil is a source of healthy fats, and garbanzo beans add both fiber and protein to your diet.

Balancing your macronutrients with your micronutrients is easier when you have a variety of fresh, healthy foods to choose from. When you eat with Greenspot, we make sure to fuel your summer fun by providing a balanced set of healthy, fresh foods to ensure better summer health.
